Are you fed up with what your government officials are doing here in Hawaii, but don't know what to do? I have personally spent the last year or more contacting my elected officials on a regular basis to voice my concerns that government is growing too much, interfering too much, and just plain wasting the good taxpayer's dollars on their not-so-brilliant ideas. Often I ask the following questions: "What are you doing to lower my taxes? Why am I required to pay into social security? Why are you regulating business so much?" And many times, they laugh at me, respond with no answer, or tell me it isn't a priority. Sometimes, I even get hostility back. I find it rather amusing and amazing that the officials that we elect would treat the voters so poorly. It would appear that our elected officials do not care what we think, because if they did, they would note that Congress's approval rating is in the teens now, and would immediately change direction.
Recently in Hawaii, we have had the Superferry fiasco. Our Supreme Court justices decided to rule against the Superferry a few days before it was to go into operation, even though the case they were ruling on was over 2 years old. The majority of people who live in Hawaii want the Superferry, yet 5 justices can stop an important service because of some environmental assessment. Let's get real here. They are whales. Boats go through these islands every day, but I can't remember them having to get environmental assessments. It is ridiculous when 5 kings, or should I say justices, can selectively apply laws the way they do.
And then recently I read of some of our elected officials wanting to ban plastic bags, as if plastic bags were even on the top 100 list of things elected officials should worry about. How about fixing the roads and traffic instead of wasting time on plastic bags?
I am beyond tired and angry at watching my hard earned paycheck being flushed down the proverbial political drain as our elected officials find ever more creative ways to tie the hands of its good citizens in the name of safety or whatever crazy excuse they come up with. I've created this site as a place for you and me to sound off. Register for the site and you too can add content to it. The only way we can create change here in Hawaii is to let our representatives hear our loud, angry voices. I fear they do not listen to reason anymore. They are drunk with power. The only voice they understand now is anger and frustration. Enough is enough. I am fed up Hawaii. Are you?
